Your Local Window and Door Repair Specialists

Wishaw Window Repairs is a family-run business helping homeowners across Wishaw, Motherwell, Hamilton and the wider Lanarkshire area, as well as Glasgow, East Kilbride and through to Livingston, keep their uPVC windows and doors in top condition. With over 30 years in the double glazing trade, we’ve seen, and fixed, just about every problem there is: misted or blown double glazing, stuck and draughty windows, jammed doors, broken locks, worn hinges and failed seals.

Wherever possible we repair rather than replace, which typically saves you a significant amount compared with fitting new windows or doors. Replacement double-glazed units start from just £75, and every job comes with our no-fuss guarantee. If a repair isn’t the right answer, we’ll tell you honestly and talk you through the replacement options instead.

What we repair

Most of what we do falls into a handful of jobs. Window repairs cover hinges, friction stays, handles, gaskets and locks. Door repairs cover dropped doors, worn gearboxes, cylinders and seals that have stopped keeping the weather out. Misted glass unit replacement puts clear glass back into the frame you already own. A window service or door service catches the wear before it becomes a breakdown, and a replacement door panel freshens up a tired or damaged front door without disturbing the frame.

We also work on vertical sliding sash windows and Palladio composite doors, and when a repair truly is not the answer we can talk you through replacement windows and doors instead. If you are not sure which of those you need, that is completely normal. Send a photo and we will tell you.

How a job actually runs

You call, message or email a photo of the problem. We ask two or three questions, because the answer usually tells us what the fault is before we set off, and we give you a price or a realistic range there and then. There is no call out charge and nothing to pay for looking.

On the day, the common parts travel in the van: espagnolette locks and gearboxes, euro cylinders, friction stays and hinges, handles in white, chrome and gold, keeps, packers, gaskets and beading. That is why the majority of jobs are finished on the first visit rather than turning into a wait for parts.

Glass is the one exception. Sealed units are made to measure, so we take the sizes on the first visit and come back to fit once they are ready, normally within a few working days.

What it costs

Every job is priced on what it needs, so we do not publish a fixed list that would only mislead you. As a rough guide, a replacement sealed unit for a misted window starts at £75, and a handle, hinge or gasket is usually the smallest job on the van. You get the figure for your window before any work starts.

Repairing is almost always the cheaper road. A hinge, a gearbox or a single pane of glass costs a fraction of a new frame, and the frame you already have is often in better condition than people assume. If a repair is not the honest answer, we will say so rather than sell you one.

Where we work

We are based in Wishaw and cover most of Lanarkshire and the surrounding towns, including Motherwell, Hamilton, Bellshill, Airdrie, Coatbridge, East Kilbride, Glasgow, Carluke and Lanark and Livingston. If your town is not on that list it is still worth asking, because we are often nearby anyway.

Questions we get asked most

Can you repair it, or do I need new windows?

In most cases it is a repair. Frames outlast the moving parts inside them by years, so a window that is stiff, draughty or misted is usually a hardware or glass problem rather than a frame problem. Our guide to repairing or replacing windows walks through how to tell the difference.

My windows are misted. Can that be fixed without a new window?

Yes. The misting means the seal inside the double glazed unit has failed, so we replace the unit and leave the frame exactly where it is. There is more on that in our article on misted double glazing.

How quickly can you come out?

Usually within a few days, and sooner if a door will not lock or a window will not shut, because that is a security and weather problem rather than an inconvenience. Our hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Quotes are free, and a photo sent by WhatsApp or email is often enough for us to give you a price without anyone needing to be in.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Parts and workmanship are guaranteed, and we have more than 100 five star Google reviews and over 30 years in the trade behind that. You can read them on our reviews page or see the work itself in the before and after gallery.
