Why Glasgow homeowners choose Wishaw Window Repairs
Glasgow’s tenements and suburban semis alike are full of uPVC windows and doors now well past their first decade, the point where seals fail, hinges wear and glass units fog over. A repair is almost always quicker and far cheaper than replacement, and we’ll give you a straight answer on which you actually need rather than pushing new windows you don’t.
Not sure what’s wrong? Send a photo of the window or door on WhatsApp and we’ll give you a quick idea of the fix and the cost, with no obligation.

Tenement flats, bungalows and the east side of the city
From Wishaw the closest part of Glasgow is the east and south east, out through Baillieston, Garrowhill, Mount Vernon, Sandyhills, Shettleston, Springboig and Carmyle, and round toward Croftfoot and Cathcart. That side of the city is a mix of tenement flats, interwar bungalows and post war terraces, and each one asks for something different.
Tenement work is mostly about access. A blown unit on a second floor front window sounds like a scaffolding job and usually is not, because most uPVC and modern timber units can be changed from inside the room. That keeps the cost down and it keeps the factor and the other owners out of it, since nothing outside the flat is being touched.
The bungalows through Garrowhill, Mount Vernon and Sandyhills are a different animal. Many still have their original openings with uPVC fitted in the eighties or nineties, often with large front bay windows. Bay units are heavier, they are more likely to need toughened glass because of where they sit, and a dropped opener in a bay will bind against the frame long before the hinge itself has worn out.
What a repair costs in Glasgow
There is no call out fee, in the city or anywhere else. You pay for the work done.
A sealed unit starts at £75 for a hopper sized piece of glass. Bay windows, large living room panes, toughened glass, obscure patterns, leaded designs and low emissivity coatings all move the figure, so the size and type of the glass matters far more than the postcode does. Hardware is priced on the part that is genuinely in the frame rather than on what it looks like.
Because of that we quote each job on its own rather than working from a list. A photo on WhatsApp, ideally with something in shot for scale, is usually enough for us to give you a real number.
Getting out to Glasgow
The east side of the city is around twenty five minutes from us, so it is a normal run rather than a special trip, although we do plan city jobs around parking and access where we can. We work Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Call 01698 604 278 and tell us the floor and the type of window, because that decides how the job is done.
Most Glasgow work is misted glass unit replacement, window repairs, door repairs and vertical sliding sash repairs in flats where the original sash style was kept.
Before you call us out
A lot of the jobs we get in Glasgow start as one of these questions. The answers are free to read and there is no sales pitch in any of them.
- Why is my double glazing misted up?
- Is your uPVC door lock actually secure?
- Looking after uPVC windows and doors
- How long do uPVC windows and doors last?
- French doors that will not close properly
- Can scratched glass be repaired?
There are fifty articles in all in our window and door advice section.
On the south side we also cover Cambuslang and Rutherglen, Newton Mearns and Giffnock and Clarkston. There is a full list of every town we work in on our areas we cover page.
