A new town built in phases, and windows that show it

Livingston was built out in stages from the sixties onward, and you can more or less date a street by the windows in it. The earliest parts, through Craigshill, Howden and Ladywell, have the generous openings of that era, which means large sealed units and heavy glass. Knightsridge, Deans and Dedridge came later, and Murieston, Eliburn and Adambrae later again.

The private estates from the nineties and two thousands are now the ones we hear from most. Those houses still look modern and the frames are in good order, but the hardware inside them was never meant to last forever.
