What a Palladio door actually is
A Palladio is a composite front door built around a solid timber core wrapped in a glass reinforced skin, rather than the hollow foam slab used in cheaper composites. That is why it feels heavy when you push it, holds its shape through a Scottish winter, and does not need painting the way a timber door does.
The outer skin is coloured through rather than sprayed on, so a scuff from a bike pedal or a wheelie bin does not leave a white scar. Practically, that means a door that still looks right in ten years with nothing more than a wash down and a drop of oil on the hinges.
Styles, colours and glass
There is a wide choice of styles, from plain contemporary slabs through to traditional panelled and glazed designs, and a long list of colours including the greys, greens and blues that have become popular locally.
